What’s the best sound in the world for a parent of a young and growing toddler?
No, it’s not the giggles of toddler laughter when you tickle his belly or flip him upside down.
No, it’s not the screams of delight when he comes running to the door calling your name when you come home.
No, it’s not the sound of nothing when he has finally fallen asleep.
All those are pretty darn good. But this morning, I felt I had something that beat them. I heard it while I was in the bathroom and two-year-old Peter was watching TV in the den, drinking some decaf Chai tea through his sippy cup. The sound went something like this:
“Daaaaddeeeeee! I done! I done, Daddeeeee!”
*stomp stomp stomp stomp climb climb stompity-stompity-stomp-stomp-stomp*
CLANKITY CLANK CLANK of Peter putting his empty sippy cup in the sink, instead of leaving it on the floor or the couch, then a *stompity-stompity-stomp* as he ran back to the den.
